Why is Hungarian so difficult?

We stick everything onto the end of the word…
When we say in English: in my house
in Hungarian, we say: a házamban
-am means "my"
-ban means "in"
It can feel confusing because Hungarian words often look very long.
For English speakers, it takes a little time to get used to this way of thinking. It doesn't happen overnight.
Then there are the accents, which can completely change the meaning of a word.
SZÁR = stem
SZAR = shit
A single long or short vowel can change everything.
And then there's word order: sometimes it's very flexible, and sometimes not at all.
English word order doesn't really help us here.
Jack vagyok.
I am Jack.
Fortunately, Hungarian also has many advantages…
But that will be the topic of a future 1 Minute of Hungarian. 😉
See you soon for another 1 Minute of Hungarian!
